This is an exciting week that ramps up energetically all the way to the Capricorn New Moon on Friday before settling down a bit for a cozy weekend. Before that we have Jupiter moving into Aries, the Sun moving into Capricorn and activating the solstice, and a bunch of energetic and optimistic planetary aspects.

I love the period of solstice to the Chinese new year and think of that entire period as something of a launch pad for the new calendar year. This year that’s even more on point than usual and I’m pretty excited for 2023. 

I do have a little Mercury PSA before I fully begin the forecast. Mercury will be going retrograde at the end of next week. Normally the shadow period is kind of mild, if it’s even noticeable. But I’ve been seeing more ripples than usual, probably because Mars is also retrograde in Gemini. If you have travel plans just be sure to pack extra snacks, give yourself extra time, buy cards to give that explain gifts that may get lost in the mail, and basically implement all Mercury retrograde protocols now.

Monday is a pleasant and productiveish start to the week although the Scorpio moon could bring up eclipse related issues or surprises for anyone who had significant activations during the Scorpio/Taurus eclipses.

Tuesday is also nice and productive but with a little extra kick because Jupiter enters Aries at 9:32 am eastern. 

Jupiter indicates growth and abundance. In Aries, Jupiter can facilitate growth best with a pioneering, innovative, assertive, confident, or daring attitude but you’ll want to avoid becoming reckless, self-centered, combative, or overbearing.

You might have seen a hint of this when Jupiter dipped into Aries from May 10 to October 28, but part of this period he was moving backwards which could have put a damper on the growth.

Jupiter will be in Aries until May 16, 2023 and it will be full steam ahead for the entire time - once Mars moves direct on January 12. Don’t worry, the growth will start ramping up immediately.

By rising sign the area of life you can expect to see more growth and abundance include:

• Aries Rising: Self-awareness, your identity, appearance, personality, the way you view yourself, your character, your primary motivation, your body, your health, and vitality
• Taurus Risign: Mental health, the subconscious, ways you self sabotage, the ways you isolate yourself, hidden enemies, transcendence, and spiritual liberation
• Gemini Rising: Friends with influence, alliances, your hopes and dreams, social media, personal and professional networks, unions, mentors, and that which supports you
• Cancer Rising: Your reputation, profession, actions, relationship with and to authority, your mother and her family, your destiny, and your ambitions
• Leo Rising: Higher education, divination, foreign travel, religion, astrology, the divine masculine, and your ability to grow, adapt, and learn
• Virgo Rising: Investment, other people’s money, debt, topics concerning death, psychology, taxes, fears, transformation, and the occult

Wednesday is festive, joyful, and optimistic. It’s also the Capricorn Solstice and the official start to winter in the northern hemisphere and summer in the southern hemisphere.

I talked a little about the Capricorn area of your chart and I’ll review it again when I get to the Capricorn New Moon on Friday, but one of the reasons not everyone feels especially festive or family oriented during this theoretically festive time of year can have a lot to do with the way they’re astrological chart is configured. 

My chart, for example, is heavily inclined to feel family oriented at this time of year because Capricorn is in my fourth house of family. Now that I have children I especially love doing holiday things but that also extends to my closest friends. If you have Capricorn in the 1st, 3rd, 4,th, 5th, 9th, or 11th you’re more likely to be team holiday cheer (even if that looks like hanging out with friends, traveling, or more traditional celebrations).

I love Christmas and all of the winter holidays but someone with Capricorn in the 2nd, 6th, or 10th house (or a Capricorn midheaven) is much more likely to come off as Ebeneezer Scrooge and want to work through the holiday. I mean maybe they’ll want to do some of the holiday things but for a lot of them it’s more out of a sense of societal or familial obligation. So if you’re on team showing up to holiday stuff because you think you’re supposed to and not because you feel like Santa, just know that is totally ok and you’re a fantastic little elf for indulging the rest of us. 

If you’re on team elf off and let me work, that’s it’s own kind of gift to the rest of us because following your own north star is always an inspiration for those who find it difficult to follow their own. 

If you happen to have Capricorn in the 8th or 12th you might just want to be left alone entirely. 

Of course the house placement is just part of it. Your personal planetary configuration, life experiences, and beliefs can and will modify your experience but the house placement is a good baseline. It’s also a good thing to consider if you want to experience the season a little differently because you can prioritize the topics of your Capricorn house to enjoy the season more (this is true for literally all signs).

Wednesday night there could be a little emotional tension and some nice surprises in store for you related to love and money or in the areas of your Capricorn and Taurus houses.

Friday morning starts off with a great big beautiful Capricorn New Moon at 5:16 am eastern

This is a fantastic new beginning that I’m personally very happy about. It’s not exactly a festive new beginning but it is one that you’ll have plenty of support to work on especially over the next couple of weeks. Think of it as a little boost for your Solstice or New Year’s resolutions because it’s good for that or for a short term project you want to knock out over the next month.

I’ll be using it as a combination. I have a lot of work I want to do this lunation cycle and this Capricorn New Moon is go time but the Aquarius New Moon next month is just as good and all of the planets will be direct for it - I’ve got things planned for that to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

I’m about to tell you where the New Moon is happening for you but I don’t ever want you to get stuck on thinking you have to create something new in a specific area. Often it is something in that sign/house that supports a new beginning for you. For example it’s in my 4th house of home and family and I’ll be spending a LOT of time at home working on some very work related goals ;)
