Astrology for the Week of December 27 - January 2
Before we get started, I want you to know that all times I’m going to mention are in the central time zone. If you want to see the aspects discussed in the forecast on your digital calendar in your time zone, you can get that here.
Monday:

- β½ at 11° 25‘ Libra β³ β at 11° 25‘ Aquarius | 6:55 am
Monday is a nice way to ease back into the work week after the holiday break. There isn’t a lot of movement in the sky and it should let you do the things you have on your calendar with little distraction.
Tuesday:
- β½ at 22° 50‘ Libra β‘ βΏ at 22° 50‘ Capricorn | 2:56 am

Tuesday is a day many in the astrological community have been waiting for, Jupiter moves into Pisces for an extended period. Jupiter is the ruler of Pisces and is better able to do all the Jupiter things he likes to do while there. For the past several years, Jupiter has been in Saturn’s signs (Capricorn and Aquarius) - with Saturn. That means that Jupiter was able to take the edge off somewhat in those areas of your life but not as effectively as he is capable of when he’s somewhere a little more friendly.
Ok, so what does that mean for you? It really depends on your chart. I see a lot of astrologers making broad sweeping statements about how much better Jupiter in Pisces will be, and it will for sure be stronger and different. But better is subjective and while Jupiter does indicate optimism, expansion, spirituality, truth, the pursuit of wisdom, and a lot of other great things - it can also be doing things in excess, having an inflated sense of purpose, unrealistic optimism, overindulging, being superficial, or being prejudiced or dogmatic because you believe so strongly that your way is the only way.
A lot of how you’ll experience it depends on what house Pisces covers, where Jupiter is in your natal chart, and your time lord/ profected house of the year. That’s where working with a professional astrologer or learning astrology for yourself comes in handy.
I know, I know you want me to tell you what it means for you anyway without knowing anything about your chart - I’m going to try.
You had a little preview over the summer when Jupiter was in Pisces briefly between May 13 and July 28. That was when mask mandates ended in a lot of places and travel became more commonplace. It wasn’t until Jupiter ingressed back into Aquarius that restrictions were reestablished and lockdowns became more severe in many areas.
Unless otherwise indicated by your personal chart, this transit should bring greater abundance, optimism, and growth to some area of your life. It also means the house it will be leaving will have less of those things in general and you may become more practical and serious without Jupiter there to lighten the mood. That might sound like a bad thing but if you’ve had Jupiter in your first house and you’ve gained weight, you might be happy for it to move to your second house so that you can gain more financial stability instead.
Let’s take a look at it sign by sign. Remember, I’m using your rising sign not your Sun sign. If you don’t know your rising sign this won’t be as helpful.
- Pisces Rising: Jupiter will be in your first house which is all about you! You may feel more optimistic and have a greater desire to explore what it means to be who you are in this moment. It’s a great time to dream and plan what you want to grow into over the next twelve years. It may be important to have a friend you can bounce ideas off of so you ground the dreams into practical action-oriented steps to achieve them.
- Aries Rising: Jupiter will be in your twelfth house of hidden enemies, the things you have trouble seeing about yourself, and how you sabotage yourself. It’s a great time to work with a therapist, life coach, or spiritual leader to gain a deeper understanding of your own mind. Be cautious of avoiding this opportunity with drugs and alcohol or other escapist behaviors that distract you from the potential growth.
- Taurus Rising: Jupiter will be in your eleventh house of things that support you, networks, associations, and friendships. It’s a great time to network with people who are like you or who inspire you to be the version of yourself you most want to grow into. Avoid being swept along with those who would support you in being the version of yourself you’d rather leave behind.
- Gemini Rising: Jupiter will be in your tenth house so your career and public life are highlighted and primed for expansion. It’s a great time to put yourself out there in a bigger way but be careful not to over-promise what you offer.
- Cancer Rising: Jupiter will be in your ninth house so you may find yourself devoting more time and energy to higher education, spiritual knowledge, or foreign travel. It’s a great time to broaden your horizons but be wary of anything that inspires fanaticism.
- Leo Rising: Jupiter will be in your eighth house of joint finances, debt, and inheritance. It’s a great time to do any estate planning you’ve been putting off, apply for or pay off debt, and invest money but be sure to do so with proper financial advice and due diligence.
- Virgo Rising: Jupiter will be in your seventh house of 1-1 relationships. It’s a great time to attract ideal business or romantic partners or to grow with those you already have but be cautious of over idealizing people or promising more than you can realistically deliver.
- Libra Rising: Jupiter will be in your sixth house of obligations, co-workers, health, and pets. It’s a great time to create more beneficial health and wellness routines, you may be more interested in personal interactions with coworkers, hiring new contractors and employees for your own business, or adopting a pet. Don’t let your hopes of a best-case scenario overrule your logic with any of the above. You probably won’t go from couch potato to climbing a mountain during this transit but you can get started on the transformation.
- Scorpio Rising: Jupiter will be in your fifth house of desire, children, creativity, and dating. It’s an excellent time to get pregnant, start a new creative project, or begin dating someone new. Be careful not to become overly obsessed with a fun new pursuit to the detriment of responsibilities that are important to you.
- Sagittarius Rising: Jupiter will be in your fourth house of home and family. You may find yourself interested in moving to a new location, renovating the home you’re in, or spending more time with family. Alternatively, you may find yourself wishing for more space away from these topics and greater freedom in those areas.
- Capricorn Rising: Jupiter will be in your third house of writing, siblings, daily routines, and short-distance travel. It’s a great time to buy a car, start a writing practice or book, and think about what it would take to turn your daily routine into something that was uplifting and supportive. Be cautious of spending too much on that new car or making changes that aren’t sustainable.
- Aquarius Rising: Jupiter will be in your second house of self-worth, the money you make, and what you value. It’s a great time to increase your prices or ask for a raise and to build financial security. The flip side to that is to be cautious not to overspend or overinflate your sense of importance during this transit.
Wednesday:
- βΏ β βοΈ at 24° 26‘ Capricorn | 4:27 am
- β½ at 07° 55‘ Scorpio β³ β at 07° 55‘ Capricorn | 4:42 am
- β½ at 10° 59‘ Scorpio β β at 10° 59‘ Taurus | 9:51 am
- β½ at 11° 39‘ Scorpio β‘ β at 11° 39‘ Aquarius | 10:58 am
- βοΈ at 11° 41‘ Sagittarius β³ β at 11° 41‘ Aquarius | 6:21 pm
Wednesday is a bit more intense with Mercury joining Venus and Pluto. You might find yourself obsessing over your Venus retrograde area of focus but you might also be able to talk more openly about it and discover something that will help you gain clarity - eventually. The thing is Mercury will be back in this same spot around the first of February which means you might just be laying the groundwork for clarity that will come in the first few weeks of February.
Despite that, it’s overall a productive day if you have a plan for it and stick to the plan, or adapt and move forward if the plan goes sideways.
Thursday:
- β½ at 20° 38‘ Scorpio β³ β at 20° 38‘ Pisces | 1:51 am
- βΏ β β at 25° 53‘ Capricorn | 3:53 am
- β½ at 23° 57‘ Scorpio β³ βοΈ at 23° 57‘ Capricorn | 7:18 am
- β½ at 25° 53‘ Scorpio β³ β at 25° 53‘ Capricorn | 10:27 am
- β½ at 26° 19‘ Scorpio β³ βΏ at 26° 19‘ Capricorn | 11:10 am
- β½ β» Sagittarius | 5:08 pm
- β½ at 00° 20‘ Sagittarius β‘ β at 00° 20‘ Pisces | 5:42 pm
Thursday is much like Wednesday but ends on a more optimistic note that may inspire you to start celebrating the New Year a bit early.
Friday:
- β½ at 11° 52‘ Sagittarius β³ β at 11° 52‘ Aquarius | 12:14 pm
- β½ β βοΈ at 12° 58‘ Sagittarius | 2:00 pm
Friday is New Year’s Eve and is a mostly quiet day astrologically. There is the possibility of overdoing it with midnight celebrations or of experiencing unexpected occurrences so keep that in mind for planning purposes. Make sure you have a designated driver or a rideshare app downloaded on your phone.
Saturday:
- β½ at 20° 40‘ Sagittarius β‘ β at 20° 40‘ Pisces | 2:15 am
- β at 10° 56‘ Capricorn β³ β at 10° 56‘ Taurus | 3:49 am
- β½ β» Capricorn | 5:02 pm
- β½ at 00° 44‘ Capricorn β³ β at 00° 44‘ Pisces | 6:12 pm
Saturday is New Year’s day and the traditional time for making resolutions. However, the Moon will be almost completely dark and it’s more suited for dreaming about what you want and getting clear on what you need to leave behind.
Sunday:
- βΏ β» Aquarius | 1:09 am
- β½ at 10° 55‘ Capricorn β³ β at 10° 55‘ Taurus | 10:19 am
- Capricorn π New Moon | 12:33 pm
- β½ and β at 12° 20‘ Capricorn
Sunday will likely feel more like New Year’s day in many ways as Mercury moves into Aquarius and temporarily breaks free from the heaviness of Capricorn. He’ll be going back in a few weeks, but for now, the freedom along with the New Moon marks a fresh new beginning for 2022.
Magically, I’m not all in for this being the official start of the New Year. I’ll be laying the groundwork for it but most of January is a review, refine, and revamp period.
The real new year begins shortly after the Chinese New Year on February 1 - which is the Aquarius New Moon. Right about the time the light begins to grow again after that New Moon (on February 3rd) Mercury stations direct and all of the planets will be moving forward again.
That, my darling, is when the growth and fresh starts really begin.

Until next time, my wish for you is a joyous new year where all of your wildest dreams come true.
