Astrology for the Week of October 4 - October 10
Before we get started, I want to mention that all times I’m going to discuss are in the central time zone. If you want to see the aspects discussed in the forecast on your digital calendar in your time zone, you can get that here.
Hellenistic Void of Course Moon
Before I get started, I need to apologize for not mentioning something in last week’s forecast - the Hellenistic Void of Course Moon that began on Saturday, October 2nd at 6:42 pm and won’t end until Tuesday, October 5th at 3:46 am. I don’t currently include it on my calendar because it happens so rarely - like maybe once or twice a year but sometimes not at all… but I might change that for the 2022 calendar.
I highly recommend the Honeycomb Collective Personal Astrological Almanac who you can follow @hnycmb_co on Instagram. They offer a customized planner and ephemeris with transit data specific to your natal chart - I use it for all of my magical journaling and planning. It’s amazing and it includes all of the Hellenistic bits that I love and use personally like Zodiacal Releasing information from your preferred lot, highlighted transits to and from your time lord, this Void moon that I forgot to mention, and SO much more.
The definition of a Hellenistic Void Moon is a lot different than the one we use now. For it to be considered void, it can’t make a Ptolemic aspect for 30 degrees to one of the traditional planets (Sun - Saturn).
The Astrology Dictionary explains that the original Greek word for this event is kenodromia (κενοδρομΞ―α) which means “running in the void.” The interpretations for it go something like “abandon all hope ye who enter here.” I’m joking. Sort of. It basically means endeavors begun during this period will make no progress. While Hellenistic astrologers were usually talking about birth charts not living your life on the day to day, it still applies because a birth chart is ultimately describing a moment in time and space so the rules translate.
To learn more about this and Hellenistic Astrology in general, I highly recommend Chris Brennan’s Hellenistic Astrology: The Study of Fate and Fortune as well as his podcast, The Astrology Podcast, and his course on traditional astrology and to calculate any of the types of void moons, visit Astro Seek’s epic Moon Calendar and calculator.
So about that Moon. It goes void in Leo with a square to Venus and comes back to life in Virgo with a sextile to Venus right before going into Libra. Anything you thought was settled or begun over the weekend probably isn’t and you can join me in being super annoyed by that fact. On the upside, I’m warning you about the same thing being relevant for Monday, so avoid first dates, legal documents, and all the other things you’d like to have forward progress on.
Now on with our regularly scheduled program.
Monday:
- β½ at 13° 59‘ Virgo β³ β at 13° 59‘ Taurus | 4:18 am
- β½ at 21° 14‘ Virgo β β at 21° 14‘ Pisces | 4:47 pm
- β½ at 24° 18‘ Virgo β³ β at 24° 18‘ Capricorn | 10:03 pm
Monday seems ok on the surface but the moon is still running through the void and it’s the only planet that has any activity at all. Yes, that’s right - the Moon is making aspects to the outer planets - literally all of them. First, a trine to Uranus early in the morning, then an opposition to Neptune in the afternoon, followed up by a trine to Pluto late at night.
That’s likely to be some deeply internalized processing that includes some unexpected insights, fantasy, and maybe even some transformation. It’s a good day to journal about all the things that come up and process. I’m personally planning on avoiding everything else including people as much as possible. Not because it’ll be a bad day - I think it’ll be mostly fine. But it’s an epic day for introspection, which is better when introverting if you’re an introvert. If you happen to introspect best while extroverting, make plans and make it a group thing.
Tuesday:
- β½ at 27° 40‘ Virgo β³ βοΈ at 27° 40‘ Scorpio | 3:46 am
- β½ β» Libra | 7:41 am
- β½ at 06° 54‘ Libra β³ β at 06° 54‘ Aquarius | 7:15 pm
I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to the end of that dance through the void which will happen at 3:46 am quickly followed by the Moon moving into Libra at 7:41 am and building up to a trine with Saturn about twelve hours later.
It’s a solid day for getting things done. It’s also the last full day before the new moon so if you have anything you want to release, do so before you start planting seeds.
Wednesday:
- Libra π New Moon | 6:05 am
- β½ and β at 13° 24‘ Libra
- β½ β βοΈ at 14° 00‘ Libra | 7:03 am
- β β» Direct at 24° 18‘ Capricorn | 1:28 pm
- β½ β βΏ at 19° 49‘ Libra | 4:39 pm
- β½ at 22° 32‘ Libra β³ β at 22° 32‘ Aquarius | 9:08 pm
Think of Wednesday as the real launch of fall and the beginning of the final quarter of the year rather than the equinox. Today is the day we begin to gain forward momentum. The Moon is beginning to grow in light and the outer planets are beginning to turn around to go direct, starting today with Pluto.
The thing about getting unstuck and leveling up is, the process doesn’t tend to be subjectively easy. But that’s part of the fun, right? That’s why people train for marathons, go to school for a decade to earn a degree, or work with a coach every week to get the results they want in their life.
That’s what the energy of this fall has the potential to be if you dive in and decide to work with it. Or you can subjectively experience it as learning to walk again after being trampled by a herd of horses. Totally up to you.
My recommendation for this Libra New Moon, no matter where it is in your chart, is to make a commitment to yourself to take all of the events you experience from now until the end of the next Mercury retrograde in January and think about whether they bring you into, or out of, balance with the person you want to be when everything is going direct again around the time of the Chinese New Year at the beginning of February.
No, I’m not saying your life is on hold until then. There will be a ton of forward momentum, unexpected events, and lots and lots of action throughout.
But how you use it can be intentional or reactionary. It can keep you stuck in old ways of being or it can catapult you into something new.
Thursday:
- β½ at 24° 18‘ Libra β‘ β at 24° 18‘ Capricorn | 12:03 am
- βοΈ β» Sagittarius | 6:20 am
- β½ β» Scorpio | 9:22 am
- β½ at 06° 53‘ Scorpio β‘ β at 06° 53‘ Aquarius | 8:37 pm
- β β βοΈ at 15° 05‘ Libra | 11:00 pm
Thursday is another action-packed day with Venus moving out of Scorpio and into Sagittarius before the Sun and Mars meet up in Libra.
First, the good news. Venus is WAY happier in Sagittarius, which means an easier time of it for all Venus-related things in your life and chart. You’re likely to feel a little more optimistic and that’ll become more pronounced and it’s important for another reason.
Venus moves into Capricorn at the beginning of November and she is going to be there until March. That’s right, four months in Saturn’s sign with a retrograde that begins conjunct Pluto. It’s going to be intense. This is the last extended period of light-hearted Venus for *a while*. For reals. Get your Venus on now.
Now for the less than great news… The Sun will be exactly conjunct Mars at 11:00 pm. So while the aspect is exact today, you’ll be feeling it all week. Mars and the Sun together in a sign they don’t love to be in could be… challenging. It can be used for extra energy if you really express Mars well. But it could also be an escalation of tempers from you and all the people in your life. Proceed with caution.
Friday:
- β½ at 13° 51‘ Scorpio β β at 13° 51‘ Taurus | 7:59 am
- β½ at 21° 07‘ Scorpio β³ β at 21° 07‘ Pisces | 7:52 pm
- β½ at 22° 28‘ Scorpio β‘ β at 22° 28‘ Aquarius | 10:03 pm
Friday is kind of an intense day starting off with a Moon in Scorpio opposing Uranus. You might be a little more easily agitated and not really know why or feel tempted to go overboard. Just count to ten (or 100) before making decisions or speaking.
Saturday:
- β½ at 24° 18‘ Scorpio β³ β at 24° 18‘ Capricorn | 1:05 am
- β½ β» Sagittarius | 10:24 am
- β β βΏ at 16° 35‘ Libra | 11:18 am
- β½ β βοΈ at 02° 33‘ Sagittarius| 1:08 pm
- βΏ β βοΈ at 16° 16‘ Libra | 2:36 pm
- β½ at 06° 52‘ Sagittarius β³ β at 06° 52‘ Aquarius | 9:43 pm
Saturday the Moon moves into Sagittarius and quickly joins Venus which is lovely and is a really nice vibe. However, this is a day where specific areas of your life are likely to feel very different. The Moon and Venus playing in your Sagittarius house are likely to make that area feel nice but wherever you have Libra is probably going to be feeling more strained.
That’s because the Sun will be exactly conjunct a retrograde Mercury at 11:18 am. This is likely to be a time where your mind is on fire - which isn’t a bad thing at all and you should for sure write down any bright ideas or insights you have and use this time to fuel any creative projects. However, a little later Mercury will be exactly conjunct Mars at 2:36 pm. Again, this is great for decisiveness and mental agility but… it can also be snapping at people and saying things you don’t mean or saying things you do mean in a way that is a little more aggressive than you’d have preferred.
But that’s the great thing about astrology, right? If you’re aware of the energetic atmosphere you can use the currents to your advantage instead of getting swept out to sea.
Sunday:
- β½ at 15° 23‘ Sagittarius β³ βΏ at 15° 23‘ Libra | 11:49 am
- β½ at 16° 49‘ Sagittarius β³ βοΈ at 16° 49‘ Libra | 2:11 pm
- β½ at 17° 45‘ Sagittarius β³ β at 17° 45‘ Libra | 3:44 pm
- β½ at 21° 04‘ Sagittarius β‘ β at 21° 04‘ Pisces | 9:16 pm
- β β» Direct at 06° 52‘ Aquarius | 9:17 pm
- β½ at 22° 24‘ Sagittarius β³ β at 22° 24‘ Aquarius | 11:30 pm
Remember when I said earlier that things were starting to move forward again? Sunday is another one of those days, sort of. Saturn turns direct at 9:17 pm. I said sort of because when a planet stations direct or retrograde, it essentially stops moving altogether for a few days and then slowly starts to pick up speed. But this is the moment when all of the going through the past and thinking about the structure and past as it pertains to your Aquarius house begins to start making sense. You should have a better idea of what you want in this area of your life since you’ve probably been spending a lot of time thinking about it since Saturn turned retrograde in at the end of May (followed by Jupiter retrograding back into Aquarius in June). Things should really pick up speed there when Jupiter goes direct in a few weeks and then going forward through the end of the year.
Other than that it’s a nice breezy chatty kind of day that should be fairly productive in whatever way you choose to spend it.
If you’re feeling frisky, hit me up on Instagram and let me know how the astrology of the week played out for you.
Until next time, my wish for you is the ability to make forward progress in whatever area of life you’ve been feeling stuck, even if it just looks like finally knowing how to get on the right path.
