[Fate & Free Will ] Astrology for the Week of January 15 - 21

Alrighty. This week is a doozy and I’m going to answer the question I get asked the most often right now. 

The date that an aspect is exact (or the day I write about significant energetic changes like Saturday) is when the energy is the most intense. Like an orgasm. If you just think of all transits that way astrology will make way more sense.

There is a buildup of energy the entire time prior to the exact moment of release and then there is residual energy that’s being dispersed after. Right? Right.

So even tho the epicenter of this week isn’t until Saturday - there is a build up of all that energy that just gets stronger and stronger until it culminates and then starts to disperse.

Monday has Lavender Haze vibes. Not necessarily the in love part of it, although that might apply for some people.

It’s more about that feeling of wanting to stay in the fantasy and avoiding reality OR wanting to stay in your little bubble of happiness and not letting the external world force you into being ‘serious’ about all of the ‘serious issues’. 

In this brief little window of time maybe impractical and improbable aren’t such a bad thing. Bottle it up and take it with you for future inspiration.

Tuesday is much more aggressively focused on getting things done. Is this great for taking action? Absolutely. 

But it’s also great for becoming impatient and easily irritated when things aren’t moving at the pace or in the direction that you’d prefer.

Try to remember to count to 10 and love your reasons before you tell anyone off or go full Queen of Hearts mode.

Thursday levels out a lot of the reactionary emotion and brings in the determination, optimism, and vision required for empire building. 

There’s a saying people throw around - “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

But people rarely think about what it really means. Those roads that are still in use from two thousand years ago were built brick by brick by a process that is too exhausting to think about much less describe for modern humans. But that’s what it takes to build a true empire. 

I get it, you’re not trying to be a Roman emperor - probably. But you are trying to build something in your life and in one particular area of life, you’ve been working on it in various ways since 2008 and intensely since 2020. 

Why am I talking about that right now? Because for the next couple of days one main theme is going to be more top of mind.

For all of my fire rising signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) this has to do with your ambition. You’ve been in pursuit of improvement and success in personal finance, work-related endeavors, and professional achievements.

For all of my earth rising signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) this has to do with self-actualization. Reaching your fullest potential through personal development, creative expression, and intellectual exploration.

For all of my air rising signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) this has to do with fortification. You’ve been building up inner strength and resilience and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your place in the world. 

For all of my water rising signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) you’ve been focused on community by building, developing, and nurturing various types of relationships.

Friday

Friday we still have a ton of energy focused on that empire you’ve been building but with a twist.

There’s a greater potential for misunderstandings or unrealistic expectations (especially in relationships) and a tendency to overlook practical considerations in favor of romantic or creative fantasies.

So, if you’re feeling inspired - great! If it seems too good to be true, it might be. This is absolutely a trust but verify kind of day.

Saturday’s focus is on transformation and personal empowerment. There is likely to be a strong drive to confront and overcome deep-seated issues or to assert control in certain areas of life. You may feel compelled to shed old aspects of your identity and embrace a more authentic version of yourself. 

The thing is, all of this intense energy can also show up as power struggles, either with others or within yourself, and there could be a tendency to try and exert dominance or to become a total control freak. 

Now that the general theme of the day is done -  this is one of the most significant days of the year and the energy has been building towards it all week and to a greater extent since the beginning of 2020 in a specific area of your life.

Wherever Capricorn happens to be for you has been undergoing massive transformation, empire building so to speak,  since 2008 which got turbo boosted with a pileup of planets in Capricorn at the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 - along with eclipses - this area had a massive spotlight shining on it.

Since 2020 it has been triggered by Mercury and Venus retrogrades and so much more but today we have the final Sun Pluto conjunction at the last minute of the last degree in Capricorn. 

Buckle in buttercup, I’m about to go full blown history teacher.

Pluto only returns to the same sign about once about every 225 years. For comparison, the Moon makes that same trip once a month and the Sun does it once a year. 

In the last 2,000 years Pluto has only been in Capricorn 7 times and the Sun Pluto Conjunct at this degree and minute has only happened once - January 19, 0551. Cool right?

I’m not going to go all the way down the Capricorn path because that chapter is wrapping up for everyone today (there will be a tiny period of housekeeping here in the fall)  but for the most part this area of life is finished baking in the Pluto oven. 

So here’s the question to ask yourself, based on your rising sign, as you get ready to step into an entirely different Plutonian oven.

• Aries Rising: Reflect on your career's evolution; what achievements and professional goals are you embracing moving forward, and what limiting career beliefs or practices are you ready to let go of?
• Taurus Rising: What expanded perspectives have you embraced, and what outdated viewpoints are you ready to discard?
• Gemini Rising: What empowering insights are you embracing as it relates to finances and legacy and what fears or insecurities about these topics are you ready to release?
• Cancer Rising: Reflect on the evolution of your partnerships; what have you learned about collaboration that you want to embrace, and what imbalances or unhealthy dynamics are you ready to be done with?
• Leo Rising: You've been evaluating what you feel obligated to - in general and as it relates to work and your health; what obligations are you ready to leave behind and what new obligations are you ready for?
• Virgo Rising: How have your creative expressions and romantic life transformed; what new forms of self-expression and joy are you embracing, and what limiting beliefs or patterns are you releasing?
• Libra Rising: Consider the shifts in your home life and family dynamics; what new foundations are you establishing, and what outdated aspects of your personal life are you letting go of?
• Scorpio Rising: Reflect on the transformation of your communication style and relationships with siblings or community; what new ways of connecting are you embracing, and what old patterns are you ready to release?
• Sagittarius Rising: In what ways have your values and approach to personal resources evolved, and what are you ready to embrace in your financial life or let go of for better financial health?
• Capricorn Rising: How has your sense of self and personal identity transformed since 2008, and what aspects of your identity are you ready to embrace or let go of as this cycle concludes?
• Aquarius Rising: Think about how your inner world or spirituality changed; what deeper understandings are you embracing, and what self-sabotaging aspects are you ready to release?
• Pisces Rising: What goals and friendships have you embraced, and what unfulfilling social patterns or outdated dreams are you ready to release?

I know, that was a lot.

But the thing about a conjunction happening at the last minute of a sign means that the planets are about to move into another sign - and that’s exactly what happens for both the Sun and Pluto before the end of the day.

The Sun moves into Aquarius at 9:07 am eastern and Pluto follows along at 7:56 pm eastern.

The Sun makes this trip every year but if you want to get an idea of where the heat and pressure are about to be applied in a much more significant way for the next 19 years - just look back to between March 23 and June 11, 2023 which is when Pluto dipped into Aquarius to give us a little preview.

There have been some VERY significant previews in this house that might tell you the types of changes you’re likely to be grappling with.

• March 31, 2020 This was a Mars/Saturn conjunction at 0° 39‘ Aquarius. It probably looked like some sort of disagreement or warlike stance in this area of life or an area where you encountered a strong resistance to change or a need to overcome an obstacle.
 
• December 21, 2020 This was a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction 0° 29‘ Aquarius and it heralded a brand new beginning - a totally new way of being - in this area of life that most people noticed in December or January of 2021. 

• March 6, 2022 This was a Venus/Mars conjunction at 0° 01‘ Aquarius. This likely had to do with relationships or values coming together or clashing in this area of your life, possibly marking a significant point where personal or financial connections were redefined or newly formed.

This is just the next chapter of your Aquarius story. But dang what a chapter the next month is about to be.

Mercury (February 5th), Mars (February 14th), and then Venus (February 17th) will all be joining with Pluto before Mars and Venus reunite on February 22nd and the intense focus shifts away from Aquarius for a bit.

If you’re not clear about what your Pluto in Aquarius theme is right now, don’t worry. By the end of February it should be crystal clear.

It’s fine I know you don’t want to wait until then, so the area of life you can expect deep transformation in over the next 19 years by rising sign:

Sunday is all about moving forward.

I started this week with music so it seems only fair that I end in the same way.  

People are always asking me what to do or when it’s going to get better or how bad is it going to get. 

I can provide insight into much of that with astrology, but the real reason astrology is ridiculously powerful isn’t just because of the predictive capabilities. It’s because it helps people own who they are and what they truly want. That requires that you dig a little deeper (hey there song reference) but once you do it’s all  blue skies and sunshine guaranteed.
